Solicitor website on subscription

In England and Wales, a regulated firm's website is not optional decoration — prices, complaints information and regulatory details have to be on it. Most firms treat that as a box to tick at the bottom of the page. It is actually the page a prospective client reads most carefully. Sitetik builds the whole site around that fact, for a fixed monthly fee and without a setup invoice.

Why it pays off

Without a good website you lose customers every day

1

The price page reads like a disclaimer

A client comparing three firms for a house purchase or a probate opens the costs page first. When it is a wall of caveats with a number buried in it, they close the tab and ring the firm whose page they understood.

2

Practice areas without a person behind them

“We offer a comprehensive range of legal services” tells a client nothing. They want to know who will actually handle their matter, what that person has done before and what happens in the first fortnight.

3

Regulatory details bolted on, then forgotten

Complaints procedure, firm number, badge, fee information — added once in a hurry, never updated when a fee or a staff member changes. Out-of-date regulatory information is a worse look than a dated design.

4

Too busy fee-earning to fix any of it

Every hour spent rewriting the website is an hour not billed. So it waits for a quiet month, and in a busy practice there is no quiet month.

Our recommendation

Right for you: SIGNATURE

The bestseller for small firms
€69/month excl. VAT

A firm with several practice areas needs a properly written page for each, plus the price and service pages that go with them. That is SIGNATURE territory. A sole practitioner with one area of work can start on LAUNCH at €49 and move up when the firm does — the plan changes, the site is not rebuilt.

  • 5–8 individually designed pages
  • All copy written by us
  • Practice-area and price pages structured with you
  • Fee-earner profiles
  • Your own domain, hosting and SSL
  • Unlimited ongoing changes
The market gap

Everyone has to publish prices — almost nobody writes them to be read

Since the SRA Transparency Rules came in, firms in England and Wales that offer certain services — residential conveyancing, uncontested probate, employment tribunal claims for unfair or wrongful dismissal, debt recovery, immigration applications, business premises licensing, summary motoring offences, among others — must publish price and service information on their website: what the price covers, the key stages, typical timescales, what is not included and who does the work. Complaints information and the regulator's digital badge sit alongside. In effect, every regulated firm's website now carries a set of pages that answer exactly the questions a client is asking before they instruct anyone.

The interesting thing is what most firms do with them. Because the pages exist for compliance, they get written defensively: a single costs page, every service on it, ranges wide enough to cover any outcome, and a paragraph of exclusions longer than the inclusions. Technically present. Practically unread. A client trying to work out whether they can afford a probate does not need protection from the number; they need the number, the stages, and a sense of who they will be dealing with.

Written the other way round, the same obligation becomes the strongest page on the site. One page per matter type, stages laid out in order, the price basis stated plainly, the disbursements a client should expect, the fee-earner named with their experience. Those pages answer the search a client actually types — a service, a town, a price — and they arrive already trusting the firm that was straight with them. The rules set the minimum content. Nothing stops a firm from making it the most useful thing on its website.

One honest boundary: the website does not make you compliant — your figures and your processes do. We build the structure, write the copy and keep it current when you tell us something has changed. The prices, the regulatory wording and the final sign-off stay with the firm, as they must. We are web people, not a compliance consultancy, and the page says so rather than pretending otherwise.

How the price works

Why €49 a month is not a compromise

Many pay-monthly web design plans in the UK start around £75 and go well past £300 a month. If our price looks low next to that, here is exactly why — and what you give in return.

The build is spread over the term

There is no setup fee because the design and build are paid for across the 12-month minimum term rather than invoiced up front. On LAUNCH that means €588 excl. VAT over the first year — and you know that figure before you sign.

We work in industries we know

What a salon, a restaurant or a roofer needs online — booking, a menu, a project gallery — is already worked out for each sector we serve. Our time goes into your design and your copy, not into rediscovering what your customers look for.

Upkeep is a routine, not billable hours

Hosting, SSL, backups and updates are handled as one routine for every client instead of as hours on an invoice. Small changes are part of the plan, so there is no ticket queue and no hourly package to buy.

Specialist and no setup fee

Industry specialists usually charge a build fee in the four figures; plans with no setup fee are usually generalists. Sitetik is built around combining the two — sector know-how, €0 to start.

The trade-off, honestly: a 12-month minimum term, and prices in euros plus VAT. If you want to own a site outright from day one and maintain it yourself, a one-off build may suit you better — we compare both models openly here.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

What does a solicitor website cost at Sitetik?

From €49/month excl. VAT on LAUNCH, or €69 on SIGNATURE, which is what most firms with more than one practice area take. Design, copy, hosting, domain and every ongoing change are included in that price.

Is there a setup fee or a build fee?

No. In this niche the pricing models vary a lot — some providers charge a four-figure build up front, others a low monthly fee with a long list of extras — so it is worth reading the small print anywhere you compare. With us the build is spread across the subscription and there is nothing to pay before you start.

What is the contract length, and how do I cancel?

The minimum term is 12 months, and it renews for a further 12 unless you give 30 days' notice before the end of the term. Cancellation is in writing by email or through your customer area. If month-to-month is a hard requirement for your firm, another provider will suit you better, and we would rather say so up front.

Who owns the domain and the content?

You do. The domain is registered in your name, and the copy — including your price and service pages — remains yours and can be exported at any time.

Will my website be compliant with the SRA Transparency Rules?

We build every page the rules call for and structure it the way the guidance describes: what is included, key stages, timescales, exclusions, who does the work, price basis, disbursements and VAT. What we cannot do is guarantee compliance, because that depends on the figures and wording you give us and on your firm's own processes. You review and approve the regulatory content; we publish it accurately and update it whenever you tell us something has changed.

Can you place the SRA digital badge and our complaints procedure?

Yes. The badge is provided by the regulator for your firm and is embedded as they supply it; we place it and your firm number where visitors expect them, and set up the complaints page from your existing procedure.

We charge hourly for some work. How do you show that on a price page?

Plainly: the rate, the likely range of hours for a typical matter, the stages where time is usually spent and what tends to push a matter beyond the estimate. Clients do not object to hourly billing; they object to not being able to picture the total.

Can each practice area have its own page?

Yes, and it should. Someone searching for help with a dismissal and someone buying their first flat have nothing in common. Separate pages let each of them find a page that is about their situation, with the right fee-earner and the right first step.

We are not SRA-regulated — barristers, licensed conveyancers, legal consultants. Is this for us?

Yes. The structure works the same way; we simply follow your own regulator's requirements, or none, and adjust the regulatory section accordingly. Tell us who regulates you in the briefing.

Do you build client portals, case tracking or online payments?

No. Case management, client portals and online payments belong in your practice-management software. We build the website that wins the instruction, and link cleanly to the tools you already use for everything after that.

Who writes the copy?

We do, from a briefing call and your existing material. You correct anything that is legally imprecise or does not sound like your firm, and we revise — before launch and for as long as you are with us.

How quickly is the site online?

Usually 7–14 days from the briefing. The longest step is usually collecting the figures for the price pages, so it helps to have your current fee information to hand.
